Venmo is an American mobile payment service with a social feed. They have 60 million users and service $200+ Billion in transactions.
Historically, users would comment on their transactions using text or emojis. In 2020, Venmo added support for custom animated "stickers" via an exclusive partnership with Holler, Inc.
Create a go-to-market library of animated gifs/ stickers for the initial launch, and add to the library monthly, until the partnership ended in 2023. Use a variety of styles, messaging, and approaches that resonate with the Venmo user base. Upload to internal CMS and tag appropriately to ensure proper UX, as users see content via both a curated search library and pop-up recommendations as you type directly in the send payment UI.
Directed a team of 4 illustrators and animators in the ideation, design, and execution of an initial Go-To-Market library and an additional 30 animated gifs per month across a variety of topics and styles. Contributed to monthly content designs and executions (as seen on this page). Carefully tagged content with relevant keywords to optimize user experience. Designed tech specs and wrote a Specs and Guidelines workbook to share internally and to external brand partners to ensure optimal performance on mobile (apng>gif). All decisions were data driven based on stats like views, share rates, AB tests, and search data.
